We are a really friendly, totally inclusive local choir who sing for fun, health and happiness, where everyone is warmly welcomed in a relaxing and supportive environment. Some of our members have a range of health issues but all of us reap the health benefits singing can give you from reducing anxiety and stress to improving lung capacity and heart health. Most of all though, singing together simply makes you feel really good and we enjoy making new friends, finding our voices – and improving them! – and participating in community events to entertain and encourage more people to sing!

Connect Community Choir was originally formed at the request of our friend Kath who found that singing helped her cope with the effects of her terminal illness. Kath wanted a ‘life-enhancing choir where everyone feels welcomed and valued regardless of their singing ability’ and we do our very best to be that welcoming and supportive choir. We now have over fifty brilliant members who come together every Tuesday morning under the guidance of Phill Fairhurst, our fantastic Musical Director, to sing in friendship and laughter, and enjoy songs, new and old, which is exactly what Kath wanted.

We try to break down any barrier that may prevent people from coming together to sing including cost (donations of £1 – £4 are encouraged but are not obligatory), accessibility (we’re in a local community venue on bus routes), feeling nervous about coming somewhere new (we are really welcoming and friendly and understand how difficult it can be to take that first step into a room where you don’t know anyone), or a fear of not being able to sing ‘well enough’ in public (there are no auditions, no judgements, no comments – just  lots of inspiration and encouragement).

Connect Community Choir meets every Tuesday morning from 10 am to 11.30 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Centre, 63 St Albans Road in St Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire, FY8 1XD. You don’t need to book or bring anything with you – we will provide you with a songbook, a cup of tea or coffee and most of all, a very warm welcome.
